Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and students,

I would like to welcome you all back to an educational school year of 2020. We are very excited about the fresh start of a new academic year which we believe will bring happiness, success and joy to our students, school and family community.

We had an outstanding year in 2019 with full accomplishments. Sirius College Meadow Fair Boys Campus was continuing its success in VCE with 98.25, Salih Lelik, the highest score in Sirius College in 2019. The success that They received represents years of hard work, commitment, dedication and will mark a turning point in her live. I would like to congratulate them for the outstanding ATAR and all the best in the future. As Sirius College family we have had students achieving 90+ and 80+ in their ATAR. 26.4 % of boys are 90+, 25 % are 80+, 67.9% are 67 + and 83 % are 50+ I would like to thank them for their hard work and success in the future.

Our aim in Sirius College is to provide highest education to our students and achieve well in their future life ahead of them. We would like most of our student to get into university however going to university is not the only way to be a successful person in life. It feels like your whole future is resting on these year 12 exams. But it is not. Let’s be really, really honest. I except that high grades are valuable. The better your grades the greater the options when you leave school. But in the long term, success in life is about your ability to bounce-back. So if you don’t do so well with these exams or if you don’t get the score you want – just remember that it is not the end of the world. If you really want to study something you will find a way to do it. When one door closes, try squeezing through the cat flap. Remember there are life’s late bloomers too.

Yes there are life’s late bloomers. Believe in yourself and never give up. As you start to walk out on the way, you will realise the true YOU and develop an identity. As a side note, parents are pretty skilled at picking up on “real life” lessons. Continue to talk, listen and get advice from your parents. They have learned from their mistakes and will give you advice at no cost at all so that you can be saved from the anxiety and stress.

I also congratulate year 11 students in 2019 Ali Shaban for getting perfect score from Informatics and Further Maths and Amir Saleh for Biology. Good on you boys.

We are proud and excited to announce that Meadow Fair campus has formed and will be running a Sporting Club in 2020. Sirius Stars Sporting Club will give our student's the opportunity to undertake numerous sports on a term by term basis. The clubs will run after school every week with the aim to improve our student's sporting abilities as well as to help with their physical and mental well-being. The following clubs will be running throughout the year: Soccer, Cricket, Basketball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Brazilian Jujitsu. We hope that our student's will benefit from this unique opportunity and it inspires them to continue participating in sports throughout their schooling years.

Our first club for 2020, under the umbrella of our new Sporting Club, is Sirius Stars Soccer club. This year we are proud to have partnered up with Greenvale United Soccer Club and will be calling Barrymore Road Reserve our Home ground for 2020. Our two teams of Under 14's and Under 16's will be competing in the North West division of Football Victoria's competitions. We would like to thank president Michael Eliades and Vice President Mustafa Dilek for making this partnership possible and wish everyone involved a fruitful and successful 2020 campaign.

Families did their first step into Greenvale Soccer Club last Sunday. There were an information session, registration and selection of soccer uniform size. It was a very useful program.

I would like to thank Sirius College Meadow Fair Campus Sporting Club Coordinator Mr Sacid Cicek for forming these clubs and performing outstanding performance.

I would like to welcome all year 7 and new students. They have been at the school nearly 6 weeks. First two weeks could be hard for year 7 students to adapt themselves to secondary environment, but already they have overcome all the obstacles of being a High School student. I know that while you are in primary your teacher was caring for you similar to a parent. We have the same care in secondary however you will be more independent and will learn to become a young lady in a safe and caring environment.

I would like to finish with a quote from well know scholar Mevlana Jalaladdin Rumi. He says:

“why should I stay at the bottom of a well, when a strong rope is in my hand?”

Warm regards,

Principal,
Mehmet Cicek
